Reflect
02:00
|
|||
You take your hurt and scars
Drown it away
Subsidize your problems
Day by day
Impressions made on me
Shaped my future thoughts
And to this day
My world falls apart
I still see your face
A part of you, is a part of me
Cant control our debauchery
Tendencies get the best of me
Accept my flaws, choose my destiny
Closure
Time to try
Reflect
On your life
Death
And birth
Are the same
Ashes of the dead
Fares the way he had tread
*The song reflect is about the inherent tendencies and similarities between my father and I, coming to terms with them, acknowledging what flaws I have, and moving forward with them. My father passed away in 2003 from liver failure due to drinking, even though he had issues, and had been warned many times that he had to stop. I never grew up in a family that discussed emotions, but I could always see that my father was dealing with a lot pain both emotionally and physically. He turned to drinking to ignore and not deal with those issues head on. I have chosen the opposite path, and opted to deal with them head on and move forward. The last part of the song, "Ashes of the dead. Fares the way he had tread", are excerpts from the Uraga Jataka. The line in the Jakata is "No friends lament can touch the ashes of the dead. Why should I grieve. He fares the way he had to tread.". In summary it mean that no amount of grieving or sorrow can reach someone who is dead. The deceased person made their decisions in life, and their path is set forward because of those decisions. I have thus decided to try and make preemptive decisions so that my life does not go down the same path as his.

A Will To Change
06:50
|
|||
My mind
Fools me
Leads me down a darkened path
But I can
See the light
Redirect my current life
Illusions
Darkness
Cutting Through the middle way, now!
Recognize that wrong views are unwise
Learn and develop a path
Posses the right resolve
And a will to change
False speech and lies they deceit
Listen to yourself
Right action, right view
Harmlessness
Understand suffering
No usury on those you choose to help
Think about others for once
Avoid
Overcome, develop and maintain
Insight my tool to see life
As it really is
concentrate on my life
establish moral discipline
focus my own mind
Walking the path
Seeking the path
Walking the path
Seeking the path

Whats In The Past
02:17
|
|||
Clear, I want to see it through
Hiding behind this lens
A tainted point of view
I cant think straight
Directions lost
Im feeling out of pace
I want to start again
What, What does it take?
Giving it my best
Making the fucking difference
Yeah!
Step by step
I take it on
An X Drawn on my hand
I laid to rest
My past mistakes
And ive tried to make amends
CANT CHANGE whats in the past

Intro / What We Think
02:58
|
|||
What I want, is not what I need
Ive chosen that path, gave into greed
Think of the man, that I want to be
Life will change, and then youll see
Do past choices in life
Determine our way?
NO
The thoughts that we evoke
Will forge our true reality!
YES!
What we think, we become
What we think, we become
What we think, we become
What we think, we become

Set Myself Free
02:10
|
|||
Rumours are flying
Allegations have been made
In disbelief
Trust is betrayed
Truth within grasp
But I fear it so
It weighs on me
But I, need to know
I, need to know
Grasping at straws
Absolving of intent
Its critical to cease
Lacking consent
You make your excuses
You tell me to go
It weighs on me
And i need to know
Tell me, I need to know
Holding in, the pain endures
Speaking out, the only cure
Its time to set myself free
Free
Its time to set myself free
Its time to set myself free

Time goes by fast
Stop wasting moments of your life
While living in the past
The time is now
The present moments of your life
Its time to make them count!
Moments and time they repeat again and again
The present time matters most
At a crossroad in my life,
I didnt know which path would be the right
I focused, on myself
Made a choice and moved on through
No time to dwell
Moments and time they repeat again and again
The present time matters most
